I've visited this 3* hotel in Veysonnaz, but only took the diner in their brasserie.
This hotel as located directly on the slopes in Veysonnaz and directly next to the skilift.
The management is the same as in the Chalet Magrappé and brings really an ambiance in this hotel. They've had a hotel in Cyprus and know what party is. That's why the atmosphere in the bar is great and even all locals enjoy to come and get a drink in this bar.
As the hotel is on the slopes they're very much frequented also at noon for lunch by external guests.
And I do understand why this restaurant works that well. The quality is great and the service is even better.
You have the possibility to stay in bed& breakfast or halfboard. With the latest option you get served a 3-course menu every night.
Room:
The rooms are spacious and of a good quality for a 3* hotel.
They're set up in a wooden style and seem even more beautiful than the rooms in chalet Royal (the 4* hotel at the other side of the road). There is a double bed with 2 different matrasses (200 * 80 cm).
I did not test the matrasses, so I can't inform you about the quality.
Bathroom:
The bathroom has a normal size with shower, sink and toilet in the same space.
There is a hair dryer , but not a strong one. Also tissues are provided.
Soap bars and liquid soap is provided from a good quality (same brand as the once I had in Chalet Royal at the other side of the street). There are also 2 small, 2 medium and 2 big towels provided which are soft.
Breakfast:
I haven't seen the breakfast in this hotel. But it is served as a buffet.
Diner:
First we had a drink at the bar will locals are very friendly to you.
After that we've enjoyed the great food of this restaurant, sold as a brasserie kitchen.
The menu is very wide with choises from raclette, gourmet, fish, steak, pizza, pasta,... If you can't find your choice on this map, you must be vegan (and even then ;-)).
I took the steak roquefort with french fries and the meat was really delicious and so was the sauce. I literally ate the last drop of it. After that I was suggested to take the 'chocolat dessert' which is a 'Moelleux au chocolat' (my favorite) and also this was perfectly prepared and DE-LI-CI-OUS!
When you ask me the best restaurant in Suisse, I will tell you this is the one. Not only for the food, but definitely also for the service. Their staff is really that what makes the difference.
HINT: I have the impression you get the same facilities in the room as you'll get in the 4* chalet royal at the other side of the street as it is the same management. On top of that there is the ambiance in the bar of this hotel at night (which can be a disadvantage if you don't sleep very deep :-).
Also, if you take halfboard the diner/ breakfast will be more extended in the 4* hotel of course.
So if you prefer a calm hotel but like to enjoy the ambiance only for some evenings during your holidays you can book the Chalet Royal and enjoy the bar & brasserie of hotel Magrappé.
Advantages:
- the ambiance in this hotel is absolutely the most positive point
- very friendly staff members
- location on the slopes and next to the skilift
- spacious rooms with solid furniture
Disadvantages:
- It can be noisy in the restaurant & bar which can disturb clients that want to sleep early.
They also work with a DJ during the weekend. So that's great when you want to party with them, but not when you want to go to sleep early.
I would rate this 3* hotel 8,5/ 10. Because the quality of the rooms is very good for a 3* hotel, it also has a perfect location in Veysonnaz, the food is great and the service is that what I will never forget.
