Grand hotel liberty 4* - riva del garda /garda lake/Italy

I've stayed in this 4* hotel for 2 nights This hotel is located in riva del garda at the famous garda lake in Italy. It is situated about 250m from the lake and at walking distance from several restaurants and the city centre.

This hotel is, as the name may let you expect, a hotel which was one of the highest luxury with a wellness area. Unfortuntaly time stood still in this hotel, which means nothing changed in the last 30 years.
The old furniture has it's charm, but in the room the blankets, carpet and facilities should have been updated.
I really had an unclean impression due to the old carpet and the old blanket they use on top op the bedlinnen.

Room:
The room is very large and high (as this is the style of the building). There is 2 twin beds ( 180*80) which are made up as 1 bed. The bed is small and not very comfortable as they're old. The blanket they use is also from the 90's.
There is a flatscreen in the room and thats about it except from the paintings in the wall. As i've said the old carpet gives a dirty impression.
The blinds of the room can make the room completely dark which is a very good thing. I had a view op the garden with swimming pool (only open in summer).

Bathroom:
The bathroom is rather small in comparison to the room. There is a small shower, a sink, toilet & 'bidet' right next to it. The shower was leaking from the tab, but this can be quickly repared. The amenities as soap and shampoo are of a good quality. Unfortunately they did not refill them for my 2nd day...
The thing i liked in the bathroom are the fact there are 3 towels per person (1 big, 2 small) and a food matt. It's a pitty they don't use wash-softner.
The hairdryer is of a poor quality.

Amenities: liquid soap, conditioner, soapbar & shower cap

Breakfast:
The breakfast is served in a buffet from 7 to 10 am. This is really one of the best points of this hotel. There is a large variaty whefrom a name some items:
- croissant
- 5 kinds of bread
- different jams
- nutella
- brioche
- cheese/ham
- cornflakes
- yoghurt (individual packaged)
- juices from a machine
- coffee/tea/hot chocolat - served at the table
Part of the breakfast buffet (there was also a table with breads)

Wellness:
I did not have the time to visit the wellness area. But I can inform you the cost is € 15 pp/day to have access.

Advantages:
- extented breakfast buffet
- close to the city centre & the beatifull Garda Lake.
- plenty towels are provided
- rooms are completely dark at night

Disadvantages:
- hotel needs a renovation
- staff is not that friendly
- small shower
- small beds and old blanket

Hint: there is a small Playroom for children in the hotel. But I would not say this is a hotel for children.
Playroom for children

In general I would rate this hotel 6/10 for a 4* hotel. The staff was not really friendly even though the hotel seemed to be empty (I have to say it was low season and winter). The room really needs to be renovated to keep this 4* luxury (not in a way you replace all furniture, but new carpets, new bedcovers/blankets,...)
