Chalet Royal 4* - Veysonnaz/ Suisse

I have been in this 4* hotel for one night. The hotel is located at 100m from the lift and the slopes of the ski area Veysonnaz/ Printze. This ski area is part of the 'Les 4 Vallées' ski area, the largest connected ski area in Switzerland with 420km of slopes.

The hotel has a part of the public & covered parking place of Veysonnaz, which is directly under the hotel. All rooms get 1 parking space included in there roomrate,

The hotel has a typical chalet style, as written in the name of the hotel. There is a really nice atmosphere as soon as you enter the building. The bar and restaurant are causy and are overlooking the mountains, which is a fantastic view to have breakfast & diner.

Bar:
The bar area of the hotel is spacious with cosy seats. There is 6 nights a week live piano which gives an extre dimension to come together in this area of the hotel. Also the view over the valley (even at night with all the lights) was something I really enjoyed.

Room:
The rooms are very spacious but old. There is carpet in the room, which I don't really like.
I had one of the family rooms where a sofa is provided and can be changed into a bed for the children (max. 2 kids of 12y old).
The beds are really of a very good quality and are very soft. There is 2 twin beds next to each other (seperately made up). There is 1 big pillow and 1 small one, both are very soft and I really had a very good night rest.
The curtains are unfortunately unable to keep out the light in the morning. But as it's dark till 7.30 in the winter this was not a real problem for me.

Family room with twin beds (seperately made up) & sofa which can be transfered into double bed for kids.

View from the balcony from my room overlooking the valley.
I was so lucky to see the renovated room (there is only 1 at the moment - room n° 31). It is the aim to have more of the rooms renovated by the next winter season.
This renovated room has nothing to do with the current rooms. It is very trendy with a typical wooden style (really my cup of tea). The floor is wood and also the furniture is of a high quality.
It is due to the details in the room you get a really causy effect.
The bathroom of this room is also very modern with a walk-in shower. There is extra amenities like a sewing kid, shower cap, ear cottons,... Also there is soap, body lotion & body lotion is a separate bottle.

Renovated double room (currently only 1 room in the whole hotel sold as superior room)

Bathroom from the renovated room with rain shower

Amenities in renovated (bath)room

HINT: Kids are staying for free in this hotel up to 9y old in halfboard.

Bathroom (from all other rooms):
The bathroom is of a normal size with bath and shower in the bath (with curtain). The shower has a good pressure. The toilet is in the bathroom. Next to the sink there is a hairdryer, but you better take your own as he has very little force to dry your hair.
The liquid soap is provided in a dispenser and has a very good taste. There is also some peaces of soap provided to wash your hands. Also tissues are provided, but no other amenities like showercap,... There are 2 small hand towels, 2 normal towels and 2 really big towels which are soft.

Breakfast:
Breakfast is served in a buffet formula and can be called: variated! There is really everything on the buffet:
- 4 kinds of bread & fresh brioche
- croissant / chocolat bread (mini)
- pie
- different jams
- Nutella
- cornflakes
- 3 kinds of yoghurt
- fruit/ also pieces of fresh fruit
- sausages/ scrambled eggs/ boiled eggs/ mushrooms/ tomatoes
- olives
- 4 different kinds of cheese
- different kinds of meat
- juices (orange/ multi/apple)
- coffee/ tea/hot chocolat from the machine

Diner:
I did not take the diner in this hotel, but was invited in the hotel Magrappé to enjoy diner. Read everything about it in my post of the hotel Magrappé.
The thing I know is that the restaurant is looking very nice, overlooking the valley. The food is gastronomic and of a high quality. My colleage (who enjoyed the food the night before in this restaurant) said it was also looking very nice on the plate.

HINT: you can enjoy the diner in the brasserie 'Magrappé' on the other side of the road in hotel Magrappé (same owners). This hotel is situated at the slopes of Veysonnaz and serves very good food of a high quality in a more convenient way. And the good think is there is a lot of 'ambience' during and after your diner to enjoy your holidays to the full. (read all details in the post of Hotel Magrappé)

Wellness:
The hotel has a small wellness area with sauna ( 6 persons), hammam & whirlpool outside.
I really enjoyed the whirlpool (4 pers.) outside while it was snowing. Such an amazing experience to overlook the mountains while you're in a hot tub.
The sauna is also great, while a nice parfum is mixed into the water to be used.
The hammam is not worth mentioning, as this needs a renovation. The ceiling is broken and the taste of the air doesn't seam healthy.  I mentioned this issue to the management and a solution will be in place soon.
But in general the small wellness area is really worth a visit. I just missed extra towels in the wellness area. This would have been that extra service.

Advantages:
-the biggest plus is defintely the very friendly & helpfull staff and the management of this team who want you to feel at home.
- Very good & soft beds - high comfort.
- small & causy wellness area with sauna & whirlpool outside
- spacious rooms
- high quality restaurant
- location towards the ski area
- free underground parking space per room.

Disadvantages:
- no good WiFi signal in the room
- carpet in the rooms
- curtains can not make the room dark
- bathroom tiles come lose
- hammam ceiling needs to be renovated
